Summary

Designed and built a fully dynamic Excel-based project management Gantt system to plan, track, and analyse wash and maintenance activity. The workbook implemented dependency logic, critical path and float, progress tracking, adjustable time scaling (seconds to days), and plan vs baseline comparison with automated visualisation.

Gantt system capabilities

Scheduling logic

  • Full dependency logic: Finish-to-Start (FS), Start-to-Start (SS), Finish-to-Finish (FF), and Start-to-Finish (SF).
  • Critical path identification with float analysis to highlight schedule drivers and non-critical tasks.
  • Progress tracking to support “plan vs actual” review during execution.

Time scaling and views

  • Adjustable Gantt time step so the same schedule can be viewed from seconds/minutes through to hours/days.
  • Labelled, colour-coded timelines to improve sequencing clarity, accountability, and decision-making.

History database and comparison

  • Wash and maintenance history database with plan vs baseline comparison.
  • Any selected event automatically visualised, enabling comparison across runs and highlighting downtime drivers.

Note on confidentiality

This tool was developed for an industrial setting and contains site-specific operational detail. Due to confidentiality and trade secrets, I can’t share the Excel workbook publicly, but I can discuss the approach, scheduling logic, and general implementation patterns.
